Welcome to Emotional Intelligence
for Couples
The
decision to enter into a relationship with another human being to
form a couple, a 'sacred union' or a 'life partnership' is one of
the most important we can make as individuals, and is vital for personal
growth and happiness. No other human relationship can quite match
the full spectrum of emotions that we experience with our spouses,
'soul mates', or 'lovers'. A 'life partner' undoubtedly brings out
the best or worst in one; and bears a direct impact on our careers,
families and life fulfillment. A vital ingredient found in any successful
relationship is where partners are aware of, able to respect, and
work with each others emotions. In short, the key to successful relationships
is developing emotional intelligence.
This
website offers a resource for couples wanting to develop emotional
intelligence for satisfying partnerships, and to get the best out
their relationships. While this website is primarily oriented for
couples, the information and seminars herein provide valuable pointers
for improving personal relationships more generally, whether within
a family or business environment.
In
order to determine whether a workshop or seminar in emotional intelligence
is for you, please go to the "About EQ" page (or click
here) to learn about the key concepts in emotional intelligence,
and its importance for you. You can even take an online test measuring
your emotional intelligence quotient or EQ by visiting the links page
(or click here). If you have already familiarized
yourself with emotional intelligence, and are interested in a hands
on learning experience, then please click here
or the seminars button to learn more about the fabulous seminar
programs offered on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The
seminars combine stimulating exercises and information that help develop
a deeper practical understanding of how emotional intelligence works
for couples. Three and five day seminars involve exciting dolphin
swims in the tropical waters of Hawaii's Big Island. Dolphins are
not only gentle joyful creatures that allow humans to interact with
their pods, but also spark an incredible range of emotional responses
by humans. A 2005 study published in the British Medical Journal discussed
how dolphin interactions impact on human emotions, and can cure emotional
disorders. The researchers said: "the echolocation system, the
aesthetic value, and the emotions raised by the interaction with dolphins
may explain the mammals healing properties" (for more click
here). Dolphins are a master key to unlocking human emotions,
rectifying emotional disorders and helping develop emotional intelligence.
The
seminars are facilitated by Dr Michael Salla, an internationally recognized
scholar and author, who has taught interpersonal communication and
conflict resolution at a number of prestigious universities since
1990. Dolphin swims are led by Angelika Whitecliff who has been swimming
with cetaceans since 2002 and has been leading dolphin excursions
and seminars since 2004. Dr Salla and Angelika Whitecliff were married
in Hawaii in 2005 (see left) and frequently work as a couple in organizing
conferences and seminars in Hawaii.
